It has been a very long wait, but my Printstagram photos have finally arrived! Ya! I was so excited to see how they turned out that I opened them up at work and snuck over to our kitchen to take a peek with some coworkers. If you haven't ordered from them yet I'll give you fair warning that the delivery time can be lengthy (although they are working on it) and because it comes from Taiwan it is considered an international package and needs a signature. So unless you are at home during the day I would suggest having them mailed to a location where you can sign for them so they don't get stuck at the post office for over 2 weeks like mine did. I do like the matt quality to the photos and we chose the 4"x4" squares and the mini prints, both which are amazing so I don't think you will be disappointed.
Since I had so much time before they were delivered I had a chance to browse around the web and see what projects other people have come up with for their prints. Here are a few of my favorites so far:
Have you found a cool way to display your Instagram photos? How about printing services? Which ones do you like the best? Next time I'm going to try out ImageSnap where you can turn your photo into a ceramic tile. I also think I'm going to try and see how they print out at Target and at home next time, and I'm up for other suggestions so let me know what printing processes have worked the best for you! Stay tuned because I'll be posting my projects soon!
I was talking to DJ Track N Hound today and we were having a debate - vinyl vs. cd. Track N Hound says that vinyl is superior while I say cd, but mainly for convenience and flexibility. What do you think?
Since the day I walked into our living room and asked the Mr. why his new turntable was running without a record on it (24 hours for balancing) I've come to realize that there is a very serious ritual that goes along with vinyl and it must not be mocked or interrupted. These rules apparently drift over into cd land where enforcement extends to alphabetical organization and having the correct cd in the appropriate case. No exceptions taken. Seriously because last week I broke the rules and now I'm in the Dog House. Actually, I broke it a long time ago when I was about 6 and didn't put the Bay City Rollers record back in its sleeve because I wanted to hear Saturday Night for the 100th time.
So, because of my disrespectful ways I shuffled back into my office to hide (while the Mr. reorganized my mistakes) and made myself useful by checking out Etsy for some cool artwork that would fit in with today's post on vinyl vs. cd. I took it a little further by trying to find prints to satisfy all you audiophiles out there. Here are my favorites: (left to right, top to bottom)
Now for the Saturday Night playlist!
Hi to all of our Instagram followers! NewfandHound has been on Instagram (@newfandhound) for a little over a month now and it has been so much fun connecting with other dachshund and newfoundland owners all over the world! I've been going a little...ok a lot...crazy with it because the pictures turn out amazing and there are so many variations and styles that you can use to manipulate photos that you have to keep trying until you find your "look". I love looking at other people's photography styles and I am completely in awe of how beautiful their dogs look, not to mention you get a look into their daily lives. So when you are knee deep in newfie hair or picking up after a dachshund destruction day you know you are not alone!
Here are some of my favorite people so far:
Northwestmommy, nobonesaboutit, qwyjibo, fetchingimages, jlom4, gusdog, little_miss_disaster, steve_olszewski, laurensmithh_, anegerotti, _bigbadbob_, artsybrutus, dotmanvicar, thephotoguy, jameskenosha, robertbotl, rvisby,......and the list goes on and on.
Have you found a great hashtag to follow? Let me know!

Just discovered a new, and soon to be favorite, shop on Etsy! African Grey Designs has wonderful dachshund illustrations and cut-outs like the Doxie Paper Dolls that comes in a set of two. African Grey's site also features gift tags, cards, paper dolls, calendars, and prints!
By far my favorite is this customizable Doxie Tattoo Greeting Card! You can have your true love's name "tattooed" on his short but adorable little leg. Now this would be an awesome Valentine's Day card.
Here's a funny dachshund video to brighten up your Monday morning! You have to have a little sympathy for the long dogs, it's so hard to find a sweater that will fit their short legs!
The 3rd annual Renegade Craft Fair holiday sale is happening from December 17-18th at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco! Always a great place to go and find last minute, hand-made, holiday gifts for your friends and family. We've got our own system down now; first stop is the main desk to grab the flyer that has the layout of the fair and who is at what booth, then we make one pass around each isle to see what we like the most and mark the booth down. Third, we sit down and have something to eat and decide what we want to buy that we can't live without, and finally we head out to make our purchases! Works pretty well because there's so much to see that you forget what you liked at what booth, and this way we don't spend all of our money within the first five minutes which is so easy to do!
This year I'm going to head to these sellers first!
I couldn't resist getting an early Christmas present when I saw this original Bert & Ernie longhaired dachshund silhouette from the Etsy shop Scratch and Sniff. I've been tagging these as favorites for a few months now but today is was just pure kismet when this was listed. Ernie turned 14 on November 5th and this will be a sweet piece of artwork that will always be his.
The artist is Lou Lomibao from Newport Beach in California and not only does she make these whimsical pieces but she's also a photographer! Check out her website, Scratch and Sniff Photo. It's wonderful to find out she's a devoted dachshund fan and that she donates her time to the Southern California Dachshund Relief, and she even started a dachshund meetup in the O.C. area! Hmmm, might have to join in on that if there's one going on after Christmas while we are down south!
I'm starting to make notes of unique and personal gifts that I can give for Christmas this year and this is one present that I would love to be able to give everyone on my list! These custom letterpress cards from Puppy Paw Press are designed off your own photograph and can be made into cards, note pads, or gift tags! The best thing about owning three dogs that look exactly alike? I can use one notecard for all three! Come on, who would know?
While walking around most urban cities you can find various forms of graffiti but the short film Nowhere Near Here by street artist/stencilist Pahnl from the U.K., takes it to a different level. Nowhere Near Here depicts a dog on the streets hanging out, and doing what a dog will do in the city at night. The film took over 300 hours to make and used over 200 stencils in the process and the result is a funky mix of video and graffiti. If you check out his website you'll notice that the dog theme runs through quite a few of his stencils and artwork, allowing Pahnl to exhibit some humorous banter between cats and dogs.
So, if you were going to turn your dog into a grafitti tag what would it be?
